The aim of this scene is to highlight the various degrees of expertise possessed by the different spider-men. This is accomplished by opposing characters. In the scene, three distinct spider-people demonstrate their approaches to utilizing their spider abilities for beneficial purposes. Miles exhibits minimal control, evident in his confusion over activating and deactivating his invisibility, and his inability to swing. Peter possesses a moderate level of skill, capable of swinging and utilizing his abilities; however, he is defeated by Doc Ock. Ultimately, Gwen displays exceptional skill, demonstrated by her graceful movements and her effortless victory over Doc Ock. This fulfills the role of establishing recognizable character types via the three distinct levels of mastery.

This excerpt's aim is a traditional underdog tale where the opposing team is arrogant and ends up losing quite severely, or in other words, defeated. The meaning arises from the binary contrast of a cocky team versus a defeated Shaolin team, only for the film to subvert our expectations by having the Shaolin team triumph. It also establishes recognizable character archetypes; the slow-motion kicks, dazzling effects, and frequent goal-scoring make us root for them, while the other team’s complaints depict them as the antagonists.
