We got the green light to proceed and we began collaborating and planning. As the hours led up to filming, I needed to take a few steps to be sure we were prepared. I confirmed the Sound Design and Cinematographer had their equipment ready and charged. I requested they do a few test runs prior to the Cast arriving. The school bell rings and we had everyone meet in the parking to collect their props and costumes and get ready to make their debut.
For many of us, this was our first time making a film swede and of course there were a few obstacles to overcome. When we plugged the mics in they would pick up too much or too little, they would work in one phone but not another. We experienced a costume malfunction with Karen. We needed to improvise with the prop, instead of using a traditional paper Starbucks cup we used a clear holiday Starbucks cup. It may not be the biggest deal but we were trying to recreate the perfect scenes down to the very last details.
We tried to make sure every detail was covered to the best of our ability. In order for it to be a perfect swede to the original Mean Girls.
