Implementation: Preparing to Begin Shooting
As I am working on this project solo, it is on my shoulders to be sure everything is prepared prior to shooting. I needed to ensure this project goes as smoothly as possible and the last thing I would want is for something to go wrong due to lack of preparedness. I understood it was a risk to handle this project on my own but I completely believe that I am up to the task. I requested the equipment a few days prior to our first shooting day to allow me the time to test the equipment and become more familiar with all of it. I ensured clear communication between my cast members to be sure we were all on the same page leading up to the start.
After setting the equipment up to test and downloading the Black Magic Cam app, I was able to get a true feel of how I can make this production successful. I allowed myself the time to become more comfortable with the setup prior. I did also secure DGI mics for my cast members but while testing my phone I was confident that they would actually be more of a problem than a solution.
While taking practice shots in the house and testing angles I was checking to be sure I was able to capture the Thriller/Suspense feel. I also took some additional time prior to adapt to the new location. I understood there were many windows allowing for nature light. With that being the case, I worked to ensure I would minimize any unwanted shadows and avoided any shots of reflection that would erroneously capture myself as the cinematographer. This preparation time helped build my confidence and I feel ready to get started.
