Blog post #4 Angle, Level, Height, and Distance in Cinematography

 1.

This photo is from " Jack Reacher: Never go back". Its an angle shot that conveys conflict between the two induvial. The blurriness shows movement in this still picture.

This photo is from the "titanic" that shows' the level on which the two people look like they are falling in love with one another.

This photo is from "lord of the rings" and shows the height which shows how far away height wise  he is from the wagon.

This photo is from "Mad Max: Fury Road" and it shows the individual in the middle of what looks like a dessert. This shows the contrast of distance that conveys the development in the plot.

2.

This photo is showing the angle in which it looks like there is some conflict within the characters. It uses the low angle shot to convince the audience.

This photo shows level between these two. The close proximity gives the audience a cool sense of feeling that they might not be in conflict but something much more.

This Photo shows how height can make you see a whole new photo. This gives the audience an suspenseful feeling since you don't know what's going to happen between them both.
This photo shows distance. The figure looks so small which seems to make him little compared to everything around him. This gives a sense of loneliness or sadness to the audience.

3. As I was going over these photos, I had to decide how to show the two objects within a conflict or love interest or even all by themselves. It seems like it would be easy but after going through each one I quickly realized that wasn't the case. The hardest photo to capture was the level one. I decided to go with a love interest only because it would be the easier way to go. Now I don't think so but it worked out in the end. Getting each photo to show a different story is also by far the hardest thing to show. I would say though once you finally get the shot its so worth it. This really gets you thinking how good a film can be. Overall, the challenges faced made me just think about how a film director can be so good so fast if they use these simple rules. Level, Angle, Height, and Distance. The top 4 main things you must do in order to show your side of the picture.
