Post Production Reflection
As the filming comes to a close, I would like to reflect on the strengths and opportunities of this project production. There are a few things I would work a bit differently if I had the opportunity for a project such as this in the future.
Cons:
I worked with the sound prior and thought the sound directly through the camera worked better than the additional mics, However, after working more with the shots, the mics may have worked better in the end even with the additional editing needed. I built the filming days around the actors schedules along with mine but definitely wished I built a few extra shot days in just in the case that we needed them. Luckily the shots went much smoother than anticipated. There was a few obstacles with locations both days which I was fortunate to be able to adjust and adapt on the fly.
Pros:
I truly enjoyed creating this project thus far. I heavily planned with the "plan to shoot, shoot to plan" mentality which definitely helped immensely. It has been pretty amazing to see my vision come to life on the screen before my eyes. What started out as a storyline is now becoming a production. There definitely has been pros and cons of working by myself on this project but having the flexibility to work on my terms has absolutely been a plus. With the obstacles mentioned previously I am fortunate to have a great support system where I was able to bring in help to overcome as needed and to ensure the safety of everyone involved.
Overall I found this project exciting and it helped me learn a lot about myself. I never actually believed that I would be able to create such a project but I could not be more proud. I am looking forward to building the pieces together and watching the vision totally unfold. I am hoping the audience enjoys the piece as much as I am enjoying creating it.
